Boyd's Plan

The Plan

As we approach the 2010 election it is essential that we help all Democratic activists and organizations prepare to engage in our statewide efforts.  The Texas Democratic Party has a strong slate of talented, well qualified candidates.  In order for them to succeed--in order for us to succeed -- every Democrat has to participate.  All of us must do our part.

The TDP is a party of people and we mobilize best from the grassroots up.  In 2008, Texas Democrats raised more money, had historic participation in our primary and convention process, and contacted more voters than ever before.  Through the hard work of Democrats in all parts of the state we made important gains in the House and Senate and began closing the gap in statewide races.  We should all be proud of the progress we've made but the stakes are even higher this year.

As I've said before 2010 is for "all the money, all the marbles, and all the chalk."
In preparation for this critical election the TDP has engaged in a series of initiatives dedicated to encouraging and assisting the participation of all active Democrats from all areas of the state and all parts of the Party.

We have enlarged on the most aggressive fundraising campaign in the history of our Party.  By using a multi-faceted approach that includes holding major events, expanding "Majority Builders," on-line fundraising and "Dollars for Democrats," we are soliciting financial support from large and small donors, individuals and groups, building a solid financial base for our efforts.  We have also caught the attention of the DNC aiding in our campaign to bring national money to Texas and keep Texas money at home.

We have embarked on the most ambitious training program ever undertaken by our Party.  Working through the SDEC and county parties we have, and continue to train Democrats to train other Democrats in targeting, fundraising, the uses of technology, voter contact and organizational outreach.  If a local Party, club, organization or single Democrat is willing to be trained we will find some way to train them.  Working through in-person training, the Regional Trainers program, Campaign Camps, candidate training sessions, seminars and webinars we turn no one away, accept all willing applicants and leave no talent behind.  Our objective is for Texas to have the largest most skillful army of Democrats in the nation -- and we're well on our way.

The ultimate goal is to help our local activists and organizations build the most effective voter contact and GOTV programs possible and to help them activate those programs to elect local, regional and statewide Democrats.  We coordinate with local organizations in setting goals and constructing plans designed to reach those goals.  The TDP furnishes technology support, targeting and consulting assistance.  We make tools like the Voter Activation Network (VAN), National Committee for an Effective Congress (NCEC) targeting, the Regional Trainers program and the recorded webinar series available and demonstrate how they can be effectively applied.  We work with our SDEC members and County Chairs to be sure they have the support they need to reach their goals.

We will work in concert with our great slate of candidates -- both local and statewide -- coinciding with and reinforcing their efforts.

We will continue this support, communication and coordination with our local organizations all the way through the general election.

We will work long, we will work smart, we will work hard, we will work together and we will win.  We will once again see a Democratic majority in our great state -- in the very near future and for a very long time.  We will paint Texas Blue.
